Welcome to my A2 Media Studies Blog. Here I will present my research and planning for my production of a promotional film trailer alongside two ancillary products; a poster and a magazine cover, where I have tried to incorporate typical codes and conventions of existing media products. On the right hand side is a link to my Foundation Portfolio where you can see my skills development throughout the course, as I adopted new techniques and abilities.

I completed a textual analysis of my trailer in terms of shot types, editing, sound and mise en scene. In my research I looked a shot types used in existing horror films (here is a link to the post) and used them in my own, as seen above.

Progress Update

After showing various members of my target group a draft of my trailer, I have decided to make certain changes. I will ensure I use shots that were particularly effective repeatedly throughout to create a motif for the film as well as only shortly revealing a shot of the antagonist to keep the audience intrigued and wanting to know more. I will also use effects on shots to ensure there is a constant throughout to keep the audience's attention.
